TOTALe Studio HD is an app available to active online subscribers. It allows you to practice your language abilities in live small group meetings, called Studio sessions, on your iPad®. Here are some frequently asked questions about the app:

What is TOTALe Studio HD?

TOTALe Studio HD for iPad allows Rosetta Stone TOTALe subscribers to attend Studio sessions with a live coach anywhere they use an iPad. It's a dedicated application that enables iPad users to continue discovering their new language.

TOTALe Studio HD is a supplemental component of the comprehensive language learning experience, Rosetta Stone TOTALe. TOTALe Studio HD gives you the opportunity to take Rosetta Studio, practice sessions with a small group led by our native speaking coaches, wherever your language learning takes you.

How do I get TOTALe Studio HD on my iPad?

There are 2 ways to get the TOTALe Studio HD onto your device:

Download from your iPad® Download from the iTunes Store and sync to your iPad

iTunes® needs to be installed on your computer before downloading the TOTALe Studio HD App. We recommend using the latest version of iTunes.
For any issues related to iTunes® troubleshooting, please refer to Apple Support.

  1. Open the App Store on your iPad.
  2. Search for Rosetta Stone, Ltd.
  3. Tap on the TOTALe Studio HD icon.
  4. Tap the Free button to complete the install process.
  5. Connect your iPad® to the computer using your USB cable.
  6. Open iTunes and type Rosetta Stone, Ltd. in the Search Store field.
  7. Locate the TOTALe Studio HD App, and click on it. You'll see the app homepage containing detailed information (reviews, instructions, screenshots, etc.).
  8. Click on Free, when you're ready to download your Course HD App.
  9. Sign-in to download from the iTunes Store.
  10. Select your device in the iTunes window and "sync" your device.

How do I login to TOTALe Studio HD?

First, install the TOTALe Studio HD app from the Apple App Store. Simply click the TOTALe Studio HD app on your Homescreen. Enter your email and password and click "Login". If your session has already begun, then you'll be moved into the Session. If you're early, then you'll be moved into the waiting room until your session begins.

Can I schedule Studio sessions from Rosetta Studio HD?

No, Studio sessions need to be scheduled from Rosetta Stone TOTALe. Simply log into TOTALe and click Schedule to browse the calendar of available sessions. Click here for a step-by-step guide on how to schedule a Studio session!

Do I need to use a headset with a microphone in my Studio HD sessions?

Yes, a headset is required in Rosetta Studio HD. Without one you will experience poor audio quality, and produce an audio disruption called an "echo". In this situation, a support agent will ask you to use an headset before continuing.

Can other participants see me through my iPad's camera while on TOTALe Studio HD?

No, your iPad's camera is not used in Rosetta Studio HD. Only your coach can broadcast their webcam in the session, and all other participants only use microphones in the session.

How can I chat with another learner or coach?

You can chat with the coach or other learners by clicking the "Chat" button in the upper right and select "Everyone" or "Coach". The on-screen keyboard will appear and you can type a message. Tap the Enter button to send your message.

Is Rosetta Studio HD available for iPad 1?

No, first generation iPads lack the processing power required to run TOTALe Studio HD resulting in instability. Rosetta Studio HD is available to iPad 2 and greater. TOTALe Course HD is available to iPad 1 and 2 and allows you to take Rosetta Course anywhere an iPad can go! Learn more about TOTALe Course HD here!

Tips for a successful Studio session in TOTALe Studio HD

Studio sessions are a great way to reinforce what you're learning in Rosetta Course. Being prepared is the best way to get the most out of your TOTALe Studio HD sessions. Here's a few helpful tips:

Be early

Being about 5 minutes early to your session will give you enough time to get relaxed and ready for your Studio session.

Get comfortable

Find a quiet and comfortable place to enjoy your studio session. Areas with excessive noise are hard to concentrate in and can disrupt the Studio session.

Plug in your headset

A headset provides the best audio quality in your Studio session. It's important to clearly hear the coach and other learners to get the most out of your experience. Not using a headset can cause audio disruptions, and a support agent may ask you to use one.

What languages are available for Rosetta Studio HD?

How do I fix "Error 1050"?

Error 1050 can occur if your iPad is not connected to the internet. Ensure you're connected to wifi by tapping the Home button, Settings, and then Wifi. If the Wifi switch is blue, then Wifi is enabled.
